Between 1980 and 1987, i had a string of 10 stokes
that
culminated with my having had brain surgery four times.
the first surgery took place at johns hopkins university hospital,
where, in the recovery room, i was invaded by spinal meningitis. the
meningitis caused my temperature to rise to 107 degrees fahrenheit and
almost
killed me. i was released from hopkins after 30 days and was taken to
the university of western ontatio. at the hospital, there, i underwent
two brain surgeries. the first of these, i was wide awake for, due to
the fact the needed to be able to know where they could and where hey
could not fill in, in my brain's circulatory system, with latex. while
i
was still awake, they removed my skull cap and took an electrode and
stimulated different my lobes. if they stimulated one part and i could
still move my different extremities, somehow, the doctor knew where he
could fill, without causing profound damage. i really don't remember
how
long this took, but i remember it well enough to know that the doctor's
name was dr. fox.
the next day, in a 14 hour operation, my life was saved from the
threshold. the total cost from the incompetence of JHU was over one hundred
thousand dollars; the canadian hospital charged less than ten thousand
dollars, canadian, and they did not push me closer to death. as i come
to think of it, the canadian staff saved me.
